RE: Refridgerator fans

They do a good job of circulating the cool air inside the fridge.

RE: Plugging in and water heater questions

Using the adaptor at home is fine for precooling your fridge on electric before you leave on a trip. Also OK to run things like your interior lights, or plugging in a vaccuum to clean it after you return from a trip. Your AC will require a 30 AMP receptacle, so don't try running it using the adaptor.

RE: emerald ash borer

That CG would be off of my list. I understand not being able to transport firewood, but price gouging would not fly with me.
Totally agree, $1 for a piece of firewood is totally ridiculous. You are getting gouged.

RE: Did you go from Coleman/Fleetwood to hybrid?

We had our Fleetwood Hemlock, now called Niagara, for 2 great years. It served us well and we had alot of fantastic trips in it. However the kids got bigger, they do that, and wanted/needed their own beds. So we went looking at 3 bed hybrids and found a TrailCruiser C243S that met all our needs and wants. It was great having all the extra storage space and other amenities that a hybrid can offer. Being able to load up without popping up was real nice. Sure, we took a hit in MPG, but felt it was worth it.

RE: emerald ash borer

We've have a ban on firewood in Wisconsin, I think this is the third year. The rule is you can't bring in wood from outside a 50 mile radius. Problem is all the people do that check you in at a SP is ask, "Do you have any firewood with you?" Everybody answers, "No." A group from a neighboring state had the bed of their pickup loaded with wood, guess what their answer was.
I haven't found the firewood for sale in Wisconsin SP's unreasonably priced. Usually there are people selling wood on the side of the roads within the 50 mile boundry. I guess if I did have to pay a little extra for local wood I wouldn't have a problem if it would help preserve the trees so I can enjoy them a couple years from now.

RE: 2008 Jayco awnings....mod available?

... but then again, when the sun is low it blocks that too. Any and all opinions on what to do are appreciated!
That and the rain not pooling are exactly why we are happy with our slant type elec awning. I like the fact that we can keep it deployed in the rain and sit under it. At night if it rains we store our chairs under it and they don't get wet.

RE: Shurflo Comfort Air Vent Fan

IIRC the thermostat sensor for the Surflow Comfort Air Platinum Series is in the remote, so depending on where you put the remote will have an effect on when the fan turns on & off. The Fantastic Fan has the thermostat sensor in the fan unit itself. I've had Fantastic Fans in our last 2 campers and like them alot.

RE: What do I do next

We had a hybrid with a Dometic parked on a seasonal site earlier this year. I called Dometic informing them it was on a seasonal site and they said to find a mobile RV tech to put in the recall part and Dometic would take care of it. I called a RV tech and gave them the authorization # Dometic gave me. A week later the guy came out to our site, 20 minutes later I signed the paperwork, job done. Now granted the RV service guy didn't have to travel 100 miles to do the work, more like 40. Come to find out he was performing the same recall service to 2 other campers in our campground that day.

RE: traded in HTT for TT

Congrats on your new TT. It took us 5 years to go thru the ranks, hiwall pup, 3 bed HTT, now 35' TT. I think we're set for awhile. Doesn't mean we won't be going to our local camper show in February though;). I don't regret owning the pup or HTT for a minute, loved that open feeling and easy towing. But the kids got older and luckily we had done our travelling/site seeing when they were young. We're on a seasonal site now that reminds us of a state park. And the last thing we have to worry about now is rain on Sunday morning.
You don't have to say any goodbye's. I still visit this thread often just to see what's going on with all the nice and helpful people I have encountered.
